Abstract

The Great Shutdown' due to COVID-19 is speculated to lead us to a global recession, which is feared to be more devastating than 'The Great Depression' of 1930. 4 This has stirred an uncertain situation which would have severe economic repercussions for economies across the world, with unemployment at peak and significant stagnation of consumerism.The recession is speculated to cause the collapse of the price of oil, the collapse of the tourism industry, hospitality industry, energy industry and a significant downturn in consumerism in comparison to the previous decade.Global stock markets crashed around 20% to 30% during late February and March 2020 accompanied by unprecedented and volatile swings due to extreme uncertainty.5 India, the second-most populous country in the world is under high risk.The first case of COVID-19 pandemic in India was reported in January.The country went into complete lockdown from 23 rd March onwards, with most of the indus-.
