Abstract

Mayuk E. P. Polymorphism of quantitative units in the Belarusian and English Proverbs. The functional role of the quantitative units in the Belarusian and English proverbs has been revealed. The valuation models of the enumerative words in the proverbs have been established. Belarusian and English quantitative units set quantitative and axiological assessment of objects in proverbs. Polymorphism of quantitative units results in the formation of assessment models, which generally can be represented by the following scheme: «subcategorial meaning of a quantitative unit» → «quantitative assessment implemented by a quantitative unit» → «axiological evaluation implemented by a quantitative unit». The common characteristics and national peculiarities of quantitative units have been defined.
