Abstract

The delay lines are a major element of delay-locked loops (DLL), in comparison to the phase-locked loop delay line which finds a similar position as a voltage-controlled oscillator. DLL is a digital format of the PLL circuit. DLL is preferred to generate a stable frequency with fine grain and coarse grain frequency attributes. The significant role played by the delay line in DLL is provided controlled delay to the reference clock signal. Delay lines are used as a device that introduces time delay into signals by a calculated time constant. Time constant featured by their step delay value, jitter, and loiter range. The delay is estimated as the smallest supremacist time step in delay that can deliver. Delay range is the highest time by which a signal can be postponed. Jitter is uncertainty in the time an output has postponed signa, directly harming the minimum delay movement.
