Lateral lymph node dissection and total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer

Abstract
Total mesorectal excision (TME) is currently one of the basic principles of rectal cancer surgery. Many scholars make TME as a gold standard, but TME and lateral lymph node dissection are different. It can not repeal the lymph node dissection because of TME, and also can not only dissect the lymph node. In order to achieve the purpose of treatment ,we should make TME and lymph node dissection at the same time.
