Abstract

According to forming strategy, Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF) techniques can be classified into two types, single-stage forming and multi-stage forming. The strain paths during the multi-stage forming differ from those obtained in single-stage forming. Moreover, the sine law for single-stage forming does not hold good for multi-stage forming. From the assessment of different aspects and variants of ISF, the following limitations increase the physical constraints of ISF: Hybrid forming overcomes the above-mentioned limitations. Hybrid forming is characterized by the following integral features: It can be seen from the aforementioned key features and benefits of the hybrid forming technique that it combines the benefits of stretch-forming and incremental forming techniques at the expense of process flexibility and agility. Most of the time, cold forming is accomplished at room temperature until and unless it is required to raise the temperature of the specimen up to the recrystallization temperature.
