Current starting motor that needs 6-7 times the nominal current is still big issue. Therefore we need a start motor method to overcome the overshoot current where the soft start method is an alternative to reduce the overshoot current. In this study 4 soft start tests were conducted by setting the trigger angle (alpha) at several switching stages. The soft start method of the applied three phase induction motor is able to reduce the flow of overshoot starting motor with the difference of 9 A when compared to the star-delta method. When switching 0 ° (full voltage) the value of the soft start system of a three phase induction motor can reduce to 22.7 A with a greater difference of 75 A compared to the star-delta method
