Abstract

ABSTRACT In this study, different types of centrifugally cast and forged alloys are subjected to liquid metal (Zn and AlSi baths). Different samples were manufactured. Samples were introduced into test rig in galvanizing alloys (pure Zn and AlSi). Samples were examined and evaluated: mass loss and microstructure via optical and scanning electron microscopy. Test alloys were compared according to alloying elements. This work contributes to the understanding of the effect of alloying elements on liquid metal corrosion in various galvanizing baths. Here different alloy compositions are subjected to liquid metal test baths to simulate corrosion situations in Zn/Al/AlSi pots during continuous galvanizing.
