Abstract
Hysterectomy remains the one-size-fits-all treatment for uterine fibroids.1 Despite the fact that more than 8000 women have participated in randomized clinical trials that compared uterine-artery embolization with surgery, only a few hundred of these women underwent myomectomy, the uterine-sparing alternative to hysterectomy.2,3 Data are needed to compare outcomes among uterine-sparing options for the treatment of fibroids, and the findings of the FEMME trial (A Randomized Trial of Treating Fibroids with Either Embolisation or Myomectomy to Measure the Effect on Quality of Life Among Women Wishing to Avoid Hysterectomy), reported in this issue of the Journal,4 further this effort.
