Abstract
Cattle (1786) and buffaloes (4693) suffering from diarrhea from Eastern districts of Haryana were faecal sampled and examined for helminthic infections form July, 2003 to June, 2010. A total of 25.3% infection was recorded in animals of which cows (38.1%) had significantly higher infection than buffaloes (20.3%). Buffaloes had significantly higher infection of paramphistomes (14.2%) whereas cross-bred cows had significantly higher infection of strongyles (29.0%). The year wise data showed decreasing trend in prevalence of paramphistomes and strongyles in cows and buffaloes from 2003- 04 onwards. Season wise prevalence of paramphistomes was higher during summer and rainy seasons in buffaloes and cows whereas that of stronglyes was higher in rainy and winter season in cows.
