In this thesis, the diagnosis and treatment of benign solid liver lesions is beiing studied. Among these, focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) and hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) may offer the most challenge in management in daily clinical practice. We have investigated that FNHs might grow but that this has no complications and surgery is not indicated. In addition, we have looked at hepatocellular adenoma (HCA). This thesis shows that these tumors occur more frequently as multiple tumors in the liver rather than as a solitary lesions which was assumed. Furthermore, if HCA is greater than 5cm (previously referred to as a resection), it can be safely chosen to treat patients conservatively. Also, contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast MRI (CEMRI), HCA and FNH are discussed. Both techniques can adequately differentiate between both benign liver tumors.
