Intensification of digital revolution and knowledge revolution from last years has acelerated the processes of shifting from classical economy to digital/ digitalized economy and knowledge based economy, which are rapidly enlarging in the developed countries and - gradually - in the other countries. In this context, the paper aims to underline the relathionship between digital/ digitalized economy and knowledge based economy and to approach them considering genesis, scope, foundation, nature and performance. Also, the paper present briefly the phases of digitalization, the main features of knowledge based economy and the implications associated with the transformations that are currently occurring.
