Abstract
Governments have a responsibility to manage their relations with the tourism industry for the public good, which should also include the good of the industry. How far that responsibility will extend will depend upon the ideology of the government of the day and the prevailing political culture of the country. While one government may tend to be non-interventionist and leave the industry to compete in the international and domestic market place, another government may be active in supporting the industry in various ways.
