Abstract

I will briefly review what we know about open star clusters in the Milky Way, and how their study helps us to understand the properties of the Galactic disk. I will touch two topics where open star clusters are critical tracers: (1) the spiral structure of the Milky Way and (2) the chemical evolution of the Galactic disk.
