AN ANALYSIS OF FINANCIALPERFORMANCE OF SELECT PUBLICSECTOR BANKS IN INDIA

Banks are important component of financial system for development of economy. An Efficient financial system depends on the sound banking system of economy. Banks play major role in circulating money in economy. Banks mostly involved in lending and borrowing money from the public and provide credit mostly for productive purpose. The objective of present study is to scrutiny the financial performance of selected public sector banks in India. In this study used secondary data which availed for Reserve Banks of India website and banks official websites. This study cover the period of three years for 2016-17 to 2018-19.The ratio analysis technique used for analysis the financial performance of selected public sector banks. The top ten banks selected on the highest market capitalization. Although there was increase in effectiveness and profitability for both sector banks but the rate of growth of private sector banks are more compare to public sector banks. Public sector banks are dawdling in many financial parameters and they are facing many challenges also.
