Two varieties of spinach bolted quickly in long days, but neither gibberellin nor vernalization treatment had much effect. In short days bolting was delayed, and the gibberellin and vernalization treatments had a more pronounced effect. Growth was stimulated in all experiments by gibberellin. The response to vernalization increased as conditions favouring growth improved. The effect of each treatment was diminished when it was combined with either of the other treatments.-Lab.
