Abstract
In this paper, a water-loaded dipole antenna is presented. The proposed antenna can realize reconfigurable radiation patterns, including one omnidirectional and two directional radiation patterns. By altering the length of the loaded-water the water can work as the reflector or the director, thus the direction of the radiation patterns can be altered. Simulated results show that the reflection coefficient is below -10 dB from 0.83 GHz to 0.96 GHz. The antenna gain is 2.1 dBi of omnidirectional radiation pattern. The maximum antenna gain is 5.1dBi, and the 3dB beam width is 120° and 160° of the two directional radiation patterns.
