Abstract

Metamaterial is a sort of new artificial constructed sub-wavelength structure. Unlike conventional composite materials, its electromagnetic characteristics are manipulated by its shape, size, arrangement, and materials. In this paper, based on reversed Cherenkov radiation and enhanced transition radiation, metamaterial-inspired vacuum electronic devices with miniaturization such as metamaterial-based reversed Cherenkov oscillators and extended interaction oscillators are developed. They maybe have important applications in the high power microwaves, accelerators, microwave heating, and so on.
