Radiološki informacijski sustavi

RIS (engl. Radiologic Information System) is an information system designed to store orders, to receive the interpretations of reports and to prepare the bill for the patient. RIS ensures confidentiality and business integrity. Only authorized staff has access to all information in the system. Functionalities of RIS are integration with MPI (engl. Master Patient Index), integration with the appointment system, integration with storage and archiving system, integration with the clinician module, integration with management system, preparation of work lists and reporting. PACS (engl. Picture Arhiving and Communication System) is a database for stored images, communication, preparation, display and manipulation of medical image data and informations. It represents the complete digitalization of all work areas of radiological departments: from imaging devices through storage of images and reporting. The workflow-based approach is an innovation in RIS. Workflow management system is the backbone of the workflow-based approach system. It connects the components on the process level, as opposed to the IHE integration profiles that connect the systems one by one. In this way, the system is more flexible and integration with other systems is improved. The purpose of integration of RIS with other systems is to connect the RIS and other systems in functional work in radiology. Since these are mutually different systems, standards that will enable communication are required. Today, the most widely used standards are DICOM (engl. Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) and HL7 (engl. Health Level 7) standard. HL7 and DICOM enabled the exchange of data between systems that can be used as background for integration. Radiologic Information System in the Republic of Croatia is developing. The process of implementation of RIS in departments of radiology in croatian hospitals is still ongoing. From croatian companies engaged in information technology in health care, company Infomedica can be distinguished. Infomedica has developed a strong high-performance workstations that allow multiplanar image processing and many other functions.
