A contrast study of Paroxetine combined with Xiao Yao San in the Depression

Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of Paroxetine combined with Xiao Yao San in the Depression.Methods 6 patients were randomly divided into two groups of 38,both groups took orally Paroxetine and research group was added Xiao Yao San for 8 week.Effects were assessed with the Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)before treatment and at the end of the 2 nd ,4th,and 8th week treatment.Results The effective rate was respectively 97.36% in the research and 81.57% in the control group ,which showed have significant different(P ＜ 0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant different in the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD),and those of both groups lowered more significantly at the end of the 8th week compared with pretreatment(P ＜ 0.01),so did in the research(P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Paroxetine combined with Xiao Yao San have an significant effect in the treatment of Depression.
