Research progress on snail control with drugs In China

Schistosomiasis is one of the major communicable diseases, which seriously harms human life and health, and obstructs the development of economy and society in endemic areas. Oncomelania snail is the unique intermediate host of Schistosoma japonicum, which plays an important role in schistosomiasis trans-mission, so snail control with drugs is one of the effective measures to interrupt the transmission. This review summarized the concept, kinds and characters of molluscicide, the latest research and application of the drugs,the present major problems existed in snail control with drugs and the future research directions on snail control with drugs.
