Abstract
Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), is an autoimmune disease of the peripheral nervous system. It has been accepted that GBS can be induced by infection factors and related with cellular and humoral immunity. Moreover, cytokines play important roles in the development of GBS.Experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN) is an T cell-mediated inflammatory demyelinating autoimmune disease of peripheral nerve system. EAN is regarded as an ideal animal model of GBS. In recent years, there are many researches about the roles of cytokines in the pathogenesis of GBS and EAN. These studies might provide new strategies for the treatment of GBS. Key words: Guillain-Barre syndrome; Cytokines; Experimental autoimmune neuritis
