Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of surgery for the treatment of phacolytic glaucoma caused by hypermature cataract. Methods Eleven eyes of 11 cases with phacolytic glaucoma caused by hypermature cataract were treated with small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract extraction and IOL implantation. The surgical efficacy was observed during the follow up time. Results All the surgeries were successful and the intraocular pressure after operation recovered well. BCVA of 8 cases were improved in a varying degrees. Three cases with optic nerve damage caused by high intraocular pressure for a long time did not improve the visual acuity. Conclusion The surgery of small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract extraction and IOL implantation for the treatment of phacolytic glaucoma is a safe and effective method. It can keep the visual acuity effectively, control the IOP and relieve the pain.
