The clinical analysis of phacoemulsification cataract surgery for eyes with short axis

Objective To study the influence of different surgical incision in phacoemulsification cataract surgery for eyes with short axis.Methods The medical records of 68 eyes of 54 cataract cases with short axial length ranging from 20.10 mm to 22.12 mm who underwent phacoemulsification cataract surgery were retrospectively analyzed.The cases were randomly divided into two groups,group A and group B.Group A (34 eyes of 26 cases) accepted corneal incision and group B (34 eyes of 28 cases) underwent scleral tunnel incision.The visual acuity and complications were compared between two groups.Results The corrected visual acuity was ≥0.5 in 26 eyes (76.47％) in group A and in 27 eyes (79.41％) in group B at 1 month after surgery.There were no significant difference between two groups.The incidence of corneal edema,posterior capsule rupture,transient elevated intraocular pressure and reactive iridocyclitis had no significant difference between two groups.Conclusion Different surgical incision in short axial cataract phacoemulsification has no difference in postoperative visual acuity and surgical complications.Both two incisions can have good vision after surgery.
