Abstract
Objective To study reconstruction of binocular vision after horizontal concomitant strabismus surgery in adult. Methods 45 patients(aged 18 to 50 years old) with concomitant horizontal strabismus were studied.Preoperative and postoperative binocular vision functions were investigated. Results Best corrected visual acuity in all patients was≥0.3 and the difference between both eyes was≤2 lines before operation. All patients had no binocular vision function before operation. At 6 weeks after operation,40 patients (88.89%) had vary degrees of near stereoacuity.Remaining 5 patients had no binocular vision function but only 2 cases had grade 3 in stereoacuity by synoptophore. Conclusion The strabismus surgery is not only to achieve cosmetic purposes, but also to have a degree of binocular visual function in adult. Key words: Strabismus; Concomitant; Horizontal; Adult; Postsurgery; Binocular vision; Fusion; Stereoacuity
