Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of objective structured clinical examination (OSCE)used to evaluate chnical skills of five-year program medical students. Methods OSCE was applied to 458five-year program medical students in Medical College of Jianghan University. OSCE was composed of fivecomponents, including standardized patient (SP) station and non-SP stations. Questionnaire survey onOSCE was carried out among parts of students after the examination. Results The difficulty and discrimi-nation of OSCE were good. The total score of the students in grade 2006 who had simulation training beforewas significantly higher than that of the students in grade 2005. Almost all the students had poor score inthe auxiliary examination station. The OSCE were approved by most students. Conclusions The OSCEused was objective and equitable. Medical students' clinical competence could be evaluated objectively andextensively by OSCE. Key words: Objective structured clinical examination; Standardized patient; Clinical skill
