Abstract

Abstract : Craters in copper and lead, produced by hypervelocity impact, have been measured and the dimensions correlated with impact velocity. The results indicate that craters scale with about the 1.7 power of velocity, in agreement with computer physics results based upon hydrodynamic calculations.
