Clinical observation of secondary foldable intraocular IOL Delivery System with suture fixation to treat aphakic eye after ocular trauma with lens-vitrectomy

Objective To examine the operative technique and its curative effect of secondary foldable intraocular lens using IOL Delivery System with suture fixation to treat aphakic eye after ocular trauma with lens-vitrectomy.Methods Through the retrospective analysis of the 25 patients (25 eyes) who was implanted foldable intraocular lens secondarily with suture fixation at ciliary sulcus to examine the operative effect,technique and postoperative complication.The postoperative follow-up period was 3～6 months.Results Twenty-five eyes had successful operation at one time.No obvious complication was occurred intraoperatively.Choroidal detachment was observed in 1 eye and ocular hypertension was occurred in 2 eyes postoperatively.One eye had hemalopia that disappeared after 15 days by medicine treatment.Uncorrected visual acuity 0.3-0.8 was achieved in 18 eyes (72.00％) on the first day postoperatively.Uncorrected visual acuity 0.3-0.8 was achieved in 20 eyes (80.00％),23 eyes (92.00％),and 24 eyes (96.00％) at the 1-week,3-month,and 6-month follow-up respectively.There was not a clinical significant difference between visual acuity of pre-operative and post-operative (t =1.8912,P ＞0.05).Conclusions Using IOL Delivery System secondary foldable intraocular implantation with suture fixation at ciliary sulcus is successful to correct aphakic eye after ocular trauma with lens-vitrectomy.
