Abstract

Objectives To explore the role of microRNA-187 ( MIR-187 ) in the development of renal cell carcinoma(RCC).Methods On the basis of large-scale parallel sequencing results,We investigated the expression of MIR-187 in human kidney cancer tissues and matched adjacent normal tissues from 54 patients with RCC by using Real-Time quantitative PCR technology( RT-qPCR) and analyzing the correlation between MIR -187 expression and the clinical characteristics of patients with RCC.Results Compared with the matched adjacent normal tissues,miR-187 was significantly down-regulated in RCC.The expression of miRNA-187 was lower in 41 cases of carcinoma tissue out of 54 specimens, while there was higher expression of miRNA-187 in the rest 13 cases. We found a statistically significant lower expression of miRNA-187 in renal carcinoma. Conclusions Low expression of miRNA-187 in renal carcinoma indicates that it might have association with the occurrence of RCC and miRNA-187 may serve as a new and promising target for the diagnosis and treatment of renal carcinoma. Key words: Kidney Neoplasms ;  RNA
