Abstract
Objective To observe the application efficacy of intravitreal balanced salt injection before scleral buckling for choroidal detachment with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Methods The data of 65 eyes of 65 cases of choroidal detachment with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in this hospital from Feb. 2016 to Dec. 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. All cases were divided into two groups randomly. Group A, 31 eyes of 31 cases, underwent scleral buckling after intravitreal balanced salt injection; and group B, 34 eyes of 34 cases, underwent vitrectomy. The follow-up time was for 6-12 months after operation. Results The retina were reattached after first operation in 28 eyes (90.2%) in group A and 30 eyes (88.3%) in group B. The postoperative visual acuity (logMAR) was 0.53±0.44 in group A and 1.00±0.33 in group B. The difference in success rate of the first operation was not statistically significant between the two groups (χ2=0.00, P=1.00). The difference of the final visual acuity was statistically significant between the two groups (t=3.87, P=0.00). Conclusion Intravitreal balanced salt injection before scleral buckling can achieved long-term visual function. Key words: Retinal detachment, choroidal detachment; Intravitreal injection, balanced salt; Buckling, scleral
