Iatrogenic Injury of Peripheral Nerve in Children: A Report of 100 Cases

Abstract

One hundred children with iatrogenic injury of the peripheral nerve are reported.Most of them occurred after the injection of drug or after the orthopaedic operation.The cause,the prevention and the treatment of iatrogenic injury of peripheral nerve are discussed.It cannot be overstressed to exercise special care to prevent the nerve from being injured during operation or injection of drug.Iatrogenic injury of peripheral nerve is avoidable.The damage can be minimised if it is recognised and treated earlier.Neurolysis is an effective method in treating iatrogenic injury of peripheral nerve following drug injection.
