Abstract

Interleukin-22 (IL-22) is a member of the IL-10 family of cytokines and has complex functions. It was named IL-TIF for IL-10-related T cell-derived inducible factor.IL-22 is composed of 179 amino acid residues.A variety of activated immune cells are able to secrete IL-22 in vivo. Its receptors are a heterodimer composed of IL-22R1 and IL-10R2.IL-22 plays an important role in innate and adaptive immunity. In addition, and it has either anti-inflammatory or proinflammatory properties. It is also involved in inflammatory diseases and various immune diseases, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.Moreover,IL-22 plays a role of anti-microbial in the gastrointestinal infections.Recent studies has mainly focused on the role of IL-22 in allergic airway diseases. Key words: Interleukin-22; Allergic disease; Airway; Immunity
