Investigative analysis of the relationship between organizational commitment and turnover intention of nursing staff at tertiary hospitals in Sbenzhen

Abstract

Objectives To study the relationship between organizational commitment and turnover intention of nursing staff at tertiary hospital in Shenzhen.Methods Nursing staff at three general tertiary hospitals in Shenzhen were investigated and analyzed by questiormaire method with publically accepted organizational commitment scale and turnover intention scale.Results Negative correlation was found between turnover intention and organizational commitment,which includes opportunity commitment,economical commitment,ideal commitment,affective commitment,normative commitment,they all showed negative correlation(p<0.05) with turnover intention except opportunity commitment.32.40% of the total variation of turnover intention could be explained by affective commitment,ideal commitment,normative commitment through stepwise multiple linear regression analysis.Conclusion Organizational commitment has a significant impact on turnover ratio.
