Abstract
Objective We concentrated on creating fusiform aneurysm model in carotid artery in canine in this study. Methods A total of 10 beagle canines included in the study and divided into two groups randomly. Aneurysm model was founded in each side of carotid artery and 10 models were created in each group. Group A, balloon expansion associated with pancreatic elastase induced model; Group B, vein pouch transplantation model. According to the result of final angiography performed at 4 weeks, we considered the model founded successfully if the diameter of the aneurysm wide than control artery 1.5 times at least. The achievement ratio was compared between the two groups. Results One artery was ruptured and excluded from group 1. The success rate of surgery for two groups is 90% and 100%. The final angiography demonstrated that in Group A, 2 models were successful created; and Group B, 10 models. The achievement ratio in two groups is 20% and 100%. Conclusion The fusiform aneurysm model created by surgical venous-graft is of well stability and repeatability. The fusiform aneurysm models induced by balloon expansion associated with pancreatic elastase need for further improvement. Key words: Fusiform aneurysm model; Venous graft; Pancreatic elastase; Digital subtraction angiography
