Investigation of smoking cessation will and its relevant factors in patients from respiratory clinics

Objective To investigate the smoking cessation will among the patients in respiratory,clinic and analyze the relevant factors.Methods A convenient sampling design was used and a questionnaire survey was conducted in 200 patients from respiratory clinic.Results Ninety-six out of 200 cases were willing to quit smoking,however,only 37.5％ of them had smoking cessation plan.The differences of will of quit smoking in patients with different education,professions and years of smoking were significant (X2 =31.70,24.67,16.24,respectively ; P ＜0.05).The influencing factors also included the awareness of health and relationship between smoking and disease,rules of smoking in public places and the family' s attitudes towards smoking (X2 =10.34,8.01,18.3,25.0 respectively ;P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The proportion of the patients who not intend tc quit smoking in respiratory clinic overall was 52％.It is the professions,education,years of smoking,the awareness of health and relationship between smoking and disease,rules of smoking in public places and the family ' s attitudes towards smoking that influencing the will of quit smoking.
