Abstract
As a disease of unknown etiology, biliary atresia (BA) is characterized by progressive inflammation and fibrosis in hepatobiliary system. Kasai procedure is currently a gold standard for treating BA and it removes jaundice in most children. However, there are still postoperative itchiness due to hyperbileacidemia and continuously progressive liver fibrosis. The changes of bile acid level are associated with liver injury recovery, intrahepatic bile acid synthesis, FXR expression and bile duct inflammation. Key words: Biliary atresia; Bile acid; Review
