The review of the experiment of traditional Chinese medicine for diabetic peripheral neuropathy

Abstract

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is one of the common chronic complications of diabetes, and the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has unique advantages for its treatment. This paper reviews the progress of the mechanism of TCM for peripheral neuropathy of diabetes in the past five years, The studies shows that TCM may work from five aspects including oxidative stress, inflammatory response, microvascular dysfunction, neurotrophic disorder and lipid metabolic abnormality.
