Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of allergic conjunctivitis. Methods Retrospective case series study. Clinical diagnosis of 128 patients with allergic conjunctivitis were analyzed from December 2015 to December 2016 in Meitan General Hospital. And the clinical features of patients with allergic conjunctivitis were summarized. Results A total of 128 patients with allergic conjunctivitis were collected, and 92.97% (119/128) were diagnosed as both eyes. The patient's age ranged from 3 to 71(averaged 19±16) years. There were five types allergic conjunctivitis, including 58.6% (75/128) perennial allergic conjunctivitis (PAC), 26.6% (34/128) seasonal allergic conjuncti-vitis (SAC),9.4% (12/128) vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC),4.7% (6/128) giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC), and 0.8% (1/128) topic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC). There were 53.9% (69/128) male cases, and46.1% (59/128) female cases. There was no significant difference between different gender in the total, but Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) male patients more than female patients, the difference was statistically significant (χ2=8.333, P=0.004<0.05). Pediatric patients (0-16 years old) 74 people, accounted for 57.8% (74/128); adult patients (17-59 years old) 48 people, accounted for 37.5% (48/128); elderly patients (over 60 years) 6 people, accounted for 4.7% (6/128), children group and adult group significantly more than the elderly group (χ2=55.188, P <0.001). VKC patients in children group was significantly higher than the adult group and elderly group(χ2=15.235, P <0.001). Conclusions Allergic conjunctivitis can occur in all ages, mainly seen in children. It is a kind of common disease, which can affect the ocular allergic vision and quality of life of the patients, to the clinician's attention, pay attention to the diagnosis of clinical type. Key words: Allergic conjunctivitis; Clinical features
