Abstract

Objective To investigate the susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to gentamicin in Dalian. Methods A total of 120 isolates were collected from patients with gonococcal infections in Dalian CDC from 2016 to 2018. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of gentamicin in Neisseria gonorrhoeae were determined by the agar dilution method. Results No gentamicin-resistant isolates were found in 120 strains, of which 103 strains (85.8%) were susceptible to gentamicin (MIC≤ 4 mg/L) , and 17 strains (14.2%) were intermediate susceptible (MIC=8 mg/L) . Conclusions The gonococcal isolates in Dalian have high antimicrobial susceptibility to gentamicin. Key words: Neisseria gonorrhoeae; Gentamicin; Agar dilution method
