Abstract
Objective To study the therapeutic effect of superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA)anastomosis combining with original encephaloduromyosynangiosis in adults with moyamoya disease. Methods 23 direct STA-MCA bypasses combining with encephaloduromyosynangiosis were performed on 23 hemispheres in 18 cases of ischemic-type and 5 cases of hemorrlogic-type moyamoya disease. Results The cerebral blood flow increased immediately aher operation. The ischemic symptoms were relieved in all the patients. No rebleeding was found on follow up.There's a complication of operation related sinall infarction. Conclusion Indirect revascularization using temporal muscle(the deep temporal artery)and the dura mater(the middle meningeal artery)is named asencephaloduromyosynangiosis(EDMS).The combination of STA-MCA bypass with EDMS is a rational approach in treating of adult moyamoya disease. Key words: Moyamoya Disease; Adult; Anastomosis; Surgical; Cerebral Revascularization
