Anterior translocation of inferior oblique muscle in the treatment of congenital superior oblique muscle palsy

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of inferior oblique muscle anterior translocation in the treatment of congenital superior oblique muscle palsy. Methods 52 patients with congenital superior oblique muscle palsy, hyperdeviation larger than 15 prism diopters were treated with inferior oblique muscle anterior translocation. Results 52 patients with hyperdevitation larger than 15 prism diopters underwent inferior oblique muscle anterior translocation, 41 patients in which got a complete cure or improvement (78.8%).After surgery, all the patients with head tilt had their head tilt a complete cure or improvement. Conclusions Patients with hyperdeviation larger than 15 prism diopters can accept inferior oblique muscle anterior translocation.
