Value of fetal middle cerebral artery blood flow combined with color Doppler ultrasound umbilical cord blood flow in diagnosing fetal distress

Abstract
Objective To observe the value of fetal middle cerebral artery (MCA) blood flow quantification combined with color Doppler ultrasound (CDFI) umbilical cord blood flow monitoring in diagnosing fetal distress. Methods Two hundred pregnant women who delivered in the People’s Hospital of Xiaoyi from February 2016 to February 2017 were selected as the study subjects. The pregnant women with fetal distress were selected as the observation group (n=100) with the other normal pregnant women as the control group (n=100). CDFI was performed in both groups. The maximum end-systolic blood flow velocity of umbilical artery (UA) and MCA, end-diastolic velocity ratio (S/D), resistance index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) were compared between the two groups. The clinical value of ultrasound UA and MCA in the diagnosis of fetal distress was analyzed. Results The PI, RI and S/D detected by UA monitering of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05); the PI, RI and S/D detected by MCA monitering of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05); the sensitivity of S/D, PI and RI of UA was 97.56%, 93.78% and 94.85%, and specificity was 60.46%, 52.36% and 61.50%. The sensitivity of S/D, Pl and RI of MCA was 60.46%, 52.36% and 61.50%, and the specificity was 70.51%, 67.53% and 64.63%. Conclusions Fetal MCA combined with CDFI umbilical blood flow monitoring is helpful for screening fetal distress, and it provides a reliable basis for clinical effective intervention, which is worthy of further promotion.
