Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship of central corneal thickness (CCT) , intraocular pressure (IOP) , axial length (AL) and corneal curvature (CC) in eyes with high myopia in order to provide guidance for clinical treatments. Methods This was a cross sectional study. CCT, IOP, AL, and CC were measured in 252 eyes of 128 patients with high myopia. The patients were divided into 3 groups based on spherical equivalence (SE) . A correlation analysis of SE, CCT, IOP, AL, and CC was performed. Differences among groups were compared with an analysis of variance. Correlation analyses were conducted between the two quantitative variables. Results There was a significant difference in CCT among the 3 SE groups (F=256.9, P 0.05) . CC decreased with an increase in SE. There was a negative correlation between CC and SE (r=-0.231, P 0.05) . CC decreased as AL increased (r=-0.291, P 0.05) . Conclusion In patients with highly myopic eyes, there is a positive correlation between SE and AL, negative correlation between SE and CCT, and no correlation between SE and IOP. There is a negative correlation between AL and CC, but no correlation between AL and IOP. There is a positive correlation between CCT and IOP but no correlation between CCT and CC. Key words: Myopic, degenerative; Central corneal thickness; Corneal curvature; Intraocular pressure; Axial length
