Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between vertebral-basilar artery morphological abnormalities and posterior circulation infarction. Methods Eighty patients with posterior circulation infarction were chose as the experimental group,100 patients with non-posterior circulation infarction in the same period were chose as control group,a case-control study was conducted, and the relationship between vertebral-basilar artery morphological changes and posterior circulation infarction in the two groups were analyzed. Results There was significant difference in the incidence of posterior circulation infarction between patients with vertebral artery dominance,vertebral-basilar artery stenosis or occlusion and control group. Conclusions Vertebral-basilar artery morphological abnormalities are independent risk factors for posterior circulation infarction. Key words: Posterior circulation infarction;  Vertebral artery;  Basal artery
