Abstract
Wideband tympanometry test is a new technology in middle ear testing methods which is still in experimental stage. The present study clearly showed that the absorbance diagram of wideband tympanometry in people with middle ear diseases was different from the normal ones, and different kind of middle ear diseases had their own absorbance diagram. Compared with the traditional acoustic immittance, wideband tympanometry has higher sensitivity in the diagnosis of middle ear effusions, and research showed the absorbance diagrams in tympanic membrane perforation, tympanic sclerosis and ossicular chain disease were specific. There is no clear defined standards of the absorbance diagram. The validity and practicability of wideband tympanometry is lack of widespread recognition. Key words: Ear, Middle; wideband tympanometry; absorbance
