Distribution of intraretinal microvascular abnormalities in diabetic retinopathy

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the distribution of intraretinal microcirculation abnormalities (IRMA) by analyzing the FFA data of patients with DR.Methods The FFA data of 170 patients (326 eyes) with DR were analyzed by two ways according to retinal quadrant and the distance away from the optic disc.Results In 170 patients (326 eyes),64 eyes had IRMA,the occurrences of IRMA were 19.63% (64/326).According to retinal quadrant the highest incidence of IRMA was in nasal and the lowest was in temporal retina and according to distance away from the optic disc the highest incidence of IRMA was in midperipheral and the lowest was in central retina.Conclusions IRMA is usually occurred at the nasal retina and the midperipheml retina.
