Coats' disease: A Report of 16 Cases

Objective To investigate the treatment of Coats' disease.Methods Sixteen patients with Coats' disease were selected by Schieds stages,treated with photocoagulation,scleral cryotherapy or vitrectomy.Results Two patients(stage two)with photocoagulation was cured.Eleven patients(stage three or four)were treated by vitrectomy and eight patient's retina had been reattached.Three patients(stage three)undergone scleral cryotherapy and photocoagulation,the retina had been reattached.Conclusions The treatment of Coats' disease depends on different methods for different patients.Vitrectomy is an ideal therapy for severe Coats' disease.It can preserve the limited vision and prevent the complication such as rubeosis iridis,glaucoma,and phthisis buibi.
