Abstract

The mechanism of human and mammalian fertilization has been the hot subject in recent years. The fertilization mechanisms according to biochemistry, transgenic and gene knock-out are the following four major aspects, ①sperm capacitation; ②sperm to the ovum zona pellucida; ③sperm combined zona pellucida induced acrosome reaction (AR) ; ④sperm combined ovum and membrane fusion. This paper focuses on the research progress of sperm capacitation, AR, and sperm-ovum fusion. Key words: Fertilization mechanism; Sperm capacitation; Acrosome reaction; Sperm-ovum fusion
