Abstract
Objective To analyze the effect of PDCA cycle management method on reducing the rate of extravasation of chemotherapeutic drugs in children. Methods PDCA cycle management mode was adopted in 71 children in chemotherapy period in the blood cancer ward from October 2009 to May 2011,and 68 children in non-chemotherapy period during the same hospitalized period were control group.Analyzed the extravasation rate and evaluate the effect of PDCA cycle management on chemotherapy extravasation. Results There were 2 cases of extravasation in chemotherapy group, with the extravasation rate of 2.82%,while there was 6 cases of extravasation in control group and the rate was 8.82%,and the difference was statistically significant (X2 =5.887,P < 0.05).Conclusions PDCA cycle management can effectively reduce the rate of extravasation of chemotherapeutic drugs in children. Key words: Children; Plan-do-check-action cycle management; Chemotherapeutic drugs extravasation
