Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis. Methods The clinical datas of 169 patients who underwent surgery for hepatolithiasis at our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients were divided into hepatectomy group (n=105) and non-hepatectomy group (n=64) according to surgical procedures. The postoperative mortality, postoperative residual stone rate and outcome between both groups were compared. Results There was no significant difference in postoperative morbidity and mortality between hepatectomy group and non-hepatectomy group. However, hepatectomy group had lower postoperative residual stone rate (7.1% vs 34.5%) and higher rate of excellent or good outcome (90.8% vs 70.7%) compared with non-hepatectomy group. Conclusions Appropriate hepatectomy is a safe and effective procedure for hepatolithiasis and can decrease the postoperative residual stone rate. Key words: Hepatolithiasis; Hepatectomy; Therapeutic effect
