Abstract

Six immortal hemopietic cell lines were established by long term culture of bone marrow cells from four patients with carcinoma of cardia and two patients with myeloma respectively. All of the cell lines showed common characterizations of early stage of B cell detected by monoclonal antibodies. The results indicated that the cell lines were derived from hemopoietic stem cells. As the cells obtained independent growth by co-cultivation with stromal layers, the stromal cells might play important role in the cell characteristics and their transformation in addition to the possible effects of carcinogen released by destroyed malignant cells. Key words: Long-term bone marrow culture; stromal cells; hemopoietic cell line
